Hi all,
My ‘Y’ plate 1300 has been off the road for sometime getting it back on the road now, I have cleaned carbs, petrol tap drained and replaced old fuel(including adding redex) but it now coughs and splutters. I can make it run smoothly by disconnecting vacuum pipe from inlet 2 to fuel tap, would appricate any advice or tips.
Thanks Rich

Strange would removing the pipe not cause it to stall, as the diaphragm would not be working in the tap, what is the condition of the inlets, check for air leaks, and remove the air filer check the housing ain’t full crap, like a mouse nest etc.

Runs fine with pipe disconnected, if i diconnect pipe and put finger over the end of the pipe it runs lumpy which is completely opposite of what you would think. I haven’t checked the inlets very carefully, thats my present task.

That means it is running ritch, with the vacuum air added it leans out.
Maybe a stuck float needle. You can tap the bottom side (the float chambers) with a piece of wood, this sometimes does the trick.
