Geraldton Police have launched crackdowns on local residents on the outskirts of the city using dangerous off-road motorcycles and drones to identify perpetrators.
Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said residents were fed up with the noise and dangerous driving.
“It’s an issue that we’ve received a number of complaints about in the Spalding, Wandina and Sunset Beach areas,” he said.
“We see people riding off-road bikes in dangerous ways all the time.
“We have enough and it has to stop.”
He said that in the coming weeks the police will be more present at “hotspots” and use new unmanned drones to track perpetrators.
“If people keep doing this, we’re going to take these bikes off the road and destroy them,” said Sen. Sgt Martin.
He said Monday a 34-year-old man from Mt. Tarcoola had been arrested and charged with 19 driving offenses, including four charges of reckless driving, not stopping, not being allowed to drive and using an unlicensed motorcycle on the road.
