The guys and gals at Triumph HQ know a thing or two about building great adventure bikes, they make the iconic Tiger, after all. But the Hinckley-based manufacturer is also pretty handy at making top notch motorcycle gear and just has a brand new line of adventure / touring textile apparel called. brought on the market Affix series, I noticed that.

Now, before those of you who are not triumphant close this page, listen to me. The branding is so subtle you wouldn’t know it was from a single manufacturer, the prices are competitive, and there’s much going on to tempt even the most ardent supporter of a competing manufacturer.

Below I have taken a first look at some of the outstanding jackets in the Affix series for adventure bikers. Keep an eye out for future reviews as we have a chance to put it all to the test later.

Alder Gore-Tex jacket

First is the Alder Gore-Tex 4-season touring jacket. It’s the top end of a kit in the range that Triumph says is designed to withstand nearly all weather conditions riders may encounter in the saddle.

At first glance, it definitely looks like it. The jacket’s laminated Gore-Tex outer layer is a clear commitment to keeping us dry and reducing wind chill when the skies are open, while a removable thermal lining and down-filled storm collar keep you comfortable in the saddle on chilly mornings.

When the mercury rises, two vents on the chest directed directly towards the body draw air into the jacket and two exhaust vents on the back ensure an even flow of air to keep you cool.

I’m also a huge fan of the storage options included in the jacket. There are two practical outer pockets (slightly offset so that they do not clump together on the lap in the saddle) as well as two waterproof mini pockets, one on the arm and one outside pocket on the left. Two inside pockets complete the collection of stash spots.

Finally, there is a D3O back protector, as well as elbow and shoulder armor and even shoulder sliders that are included as standard and offer plenty of impact and slip protection when off. The Alder will return you £ 650 which is good value for a good quality Gore-Tex four season jacket.

Cranbourne jacket

Next up is that Cranbourne jacket, this is my personal favorite in the range. It’s lighter than the Four Seasons Alder and is best for touring on warmer days: think about the thwarting Spain’s Picos de Europa in midsummer.

However, that does not mean that there is a lack of weather protection. The outer shell is laminated and made from Triumph’s TriTech membrane to keep the rain out on wet rides, while two large vents on the chest combined with a couple of exhaust vents on the back and a mesh inside channel cool air around your body to keep you warmer Rides.

There are also plenty of storage options to stow keys, wallet and documents on tour, including two pockets on the front of the jacket and three on the inside. On the protective front there is a D3O elbow and shoulder armor as well as a back protector.

The Cranbourne retails for £ 320 which is a very competitive price for a laminated jacket with so many features.

Leith jacket

We finally have the three seasons Leith jacket. Like the Cranbourne, the Leith also has a lightweight, laminated outer shell made of Triumph’s TriTech membrane as rain protection. There is also a removable thermal liner to keep you warm on chilly mornings as the weather starts to rise. Two vents on the front also work together with a couple of exhaust vents on the back to encourage airflow.

As with the alder, there are also waist adjustment straps, two front storage pockets, and interior compartments for your phone and wallet. As with the other jackets in the series, there is also D3O armor on the back, shoulders and elbows, as well as an optional slot for chest protection. The Leith costs £ 450.

Triumph’s Affix motorcycle gear

So there we have them, three textile adventure jackets that could be very tempting options for adventure bikers, and not just those who ride a Triumph bike.

The complete Affix series also offers even more for adventure bikers. The entire range is designed to give riders a complete choice when purchasing equipment that reflects their driving style.

To this end, Triumph has also released three different stowable midlayers and baselayers that can be worn under the range’s textile jackets to allow drivers to swap them out when the temperature changes on the road. There are also women’s sizes and a range of unisex pants that zip into the jackets listed above.
