Hello all. I found this website today and thought I'd give it atry! I'm near Hull. My bike is a 2003, carb version, with 6,000 onthe clock. I've had the bike since 1,800 miles. I've carried out afew modifications but tried to keep the bike looking kind oforiginal..in a way. I also managed recently to reduce the weight ofthe bike by 26kg. The bike has 120bhp at the rear wheel accordingto a Dyno run last year.I've spent a lot of money on bits over thelast two years but have found all of them to be an improvement onthe ride or performance…….

Thanks folks. Like I say, I'm sure the bike isn't everyone's cup oftea but that's the great thing about these bikes..very varied andtweakable. I've done the the following to the bike…so if anyonewants to know suppliers or whatever, just ask..

Galespeed forged alloy wheels + alloy sprocket. Coerce sprocketcover and fork brace. Spin on oil filter conversion. Window enginecases. Pyramid Plastics nose cone and projector lights. Lithiumbattery. Belly pan from Simpson Detour. All fasteners throughoutentire bike and engine bolts, plus front bolt tube, replaced withtitanium. Carbon fibre gearchange rod with titanium ends and rosejoints. Rear master cylinder linkage and nuts in titanium. Samegoes for the chain tensioner and nuts also rear axle nut andswinging arm nut. Front fender extender and rear hugger fromPowerbronze. Stack electric oil temp gauge. LED rear lightassembly. Mini indicators. Armstrong wavy brake discs front andrear. Carbon fibre mirror stems and lightweight mirrors. K&Nfree flow air filter, airbox snorkel modification, airbox 'raincover' removal. 36Y unrestricted inlet manifolds, sitting on alloyadapters attached to cylinder head (36Ys are 10mm shorter than OEM)Dynojet Stage 2 jets and needles. Ignition timing advancer (4degrees). Iridium spark plugs. Removal of luggage toggles andbolts. Complete removal of the AIS emissions system and plugging ofthe inlets. Progressive front and rear springs. Vibranator antivibration bar inserts and Intiminator anti dive fork cartridges.Renthal alloy bars with up and back risers to stop me getting wristand back ache. Seat cowl. Tank cover which seems to livepermanently on the bike for my tank bag. Big beefy drive chain.Pirelli Corsa tyres.

My main objectives were to reduce weight and I've now removed morethan a bag of cement in weight! 26kg. I realise that every time Iback it out of the garage. Also to improve performance withoutdoing away with the standard exhausts, which I personally love fortheir looks and quietness. Also, to keep the bike lookingreasonably like an XJR without losing its identity too much. Butkind of giving it a bit of attitude. And, to make the ridecomfortable.

The weight reduction and wheels have transformed the handling.Especially the wheels. I used to think all the talk aboutgyroscopic effect of heavy wheels was advertising blurb until Ifitted the forged alloy wheels. It really is like a completelydifferent bike and ought to handle etc. yes, I know, I'm making itun-XJRish I suppose, but it just makes for a better bikeIMO.

So, not much else to do now but ride it. …..

Here's the AIS removed and the stub blocked off. It's also cappedoff with a perfect size silicone hose end which gives it less of aplumbing look than using a brass fitting…
